“The secret to life is to put yourself in the right lighting. For some, it’s a Broadway spotlight, for others, it’s a lamplit desk.” -Susan Cain

Even though about 20-40% of the human population is comprised of introverts, there are still a lot of confusions about them. Among extroverts, introverts and ambiverts, introverts are considered to be the most mysterious ones. So, without further ado, let's have a discussion on them.

What is Introversion?

Wikipedia explains introversion as 'the state of being predominantly interested in one's own mental self '. People with this particular personality trait is entitled as introverts. In simple words, they are the kind of people who are usually quiet in a social group circle and like having their own personal space.

Facts about Introverts

  • They are thinkers

  • They appreciate a personal space

  • They are quiet but not shy

  • They don't have low self-esteem

Myths about Introverts

  • They suffer from mental health disorders

  • They don't like people

  • They are not good leaders

  • They cannot socially adapt

Now, it's true that the society often degrades introverts as they believe that introverts are less likely to succeed in life. In reality, this belief is false. Being introverted has nothing to do with how happy or how successful you are going to be in life. So folks, just because your introverted friends doesn't text you on Instagram often or sing along with you, doesn't mean that they don't care. Let's try to be considerate, not judgemental.

There is nothing wrong being an introvert, a extrovert or an ambivert. Let's never change ourselves just for the sake of fitting-in. Just be the person you want to become, not what others want you to become.
